Loudon County Schools has continued to see significant gains in English Language Arts (ELA), math, and social studies achievement according to the latest state and district level TCAP scores released by the Tennessee Department of Education on June 24, 2026. Students receive a performance score based on four categories: āBelow Expectations,ā āApproaching Expectations,ā āMet Expectations,ā and āExceeded Expectations.ā Students scoring in the top two performance categories ā āMet Expectationsā and āExceeded Expectationsā ā are considered to be meeting grade level expectations.
English Language Arts (ELA)
46.3% of Loudon County students are meeting grade level expectations in English Language Arts (ELA) compared to 42.3% of Tennessee students.
4.9 percentage point increase from last yearās proficiency rate for third grade, which exceeded the stateās increase by 1.7 percentage points.
5.4 percentage point increase from last yearās proficiency rate for fifth grade, which exceeded the stateās increase by 3.4 percentage points.
3.2 percentage point increase from last yearās proficiency rate for eighth grade, which exceeded the stateās increase by 0.5 percentage point.
Math
50.7% of Loudon County students are meeting grade level expectations in math compared to 40.9% of Tennessee students.
9 percentage point increase from last yearās proficiency for fourth grade, which exceeded the stateās increase by 5.4 percentage points
7.3 percentage point increase from last yearās proficiency rate for eighth grade, which exceeded the stateās increase by 5.2 percentage points.
14 percentage point increase from last yearās Algebra I proficiency for high school, which exceeded the stateās increase by 11.1 percentage points.
Social Studies
51.5% of Loudon County students are meeting grade level expectations in social studies compared to 50% of Tennessee students.
5.7 percentage point increase from last yearās proficiency for sixth grade, which exceeded the stateās increase by 2.3 percentage points.
āThese 2026 state assessment results highlight our sustained trajectory of excellence and are a testament to the hard work of our students, teachers, and staff. We are proud that our 3rd grade ELA proficiency rate continues to increase, placing our scores in the top 20% of Tennessee school districts.ā said Mike Garren, Director of Schools.
The statewide challenge is open to elementary students from rising kindergarten to rising sixth grade. The challenge begins on Monday, June 1, 2026 and concludes on Saturday August 1, 2026.
The goal of the challenge is to instill in kids a heart for service by asking them to join the First Lady in devoting a small portion of their summer break to serving others.
All students who complete the challenge will receive a certificate of recognition signed by First Lady Maria Lee. The top participants of the challenge will receive an invitation to a carnival celebration at the Tennessee Residence hosted by Governor Bill Lee and First Lady Maria Lee to honor their hard work! RealāWorld Skills in Action at FLMS
Seventh graders in Mrs. Katchamās Fort Loudoun Middle School's ELA class stepped into the world of professional communication this week through mock interviews.
A huge thankāyou to School Board members Lavonne Barbour, Scott Newman, and Andy Disney for spending time with our students and helping guide this experience.
These mock interviews bridge the gap between classroom learning and realālife application, giving students the chance to practice speaking with adults they may not know, build confidence, and reduce future interview anxiety. Weāre proud of their courage, preparation, and growth.
We are writing to inform you of a cybersecurity incident involving Instructure, the parent company of Canvas, which is used by Loudon High School, Fort Loudoun Middle School, and Greenback High School. Instructure has reported that it experienced a criminal cybersecurity incident and that the incident appears to be contained. While Canvas was down for several hours on Thursday, May 7, the company has restored access to users as of Friday, May 8.
According to information provided by the company, the data involved appears to include names, email addresses, student ID numbers, and messages among Canvas users. At this time, Instructure has stated that it has no evidence that passwords, dates of birth, government identification numbers, or financial information were involved.
We are continuing to monitor this situation closely and are awaiting additional updates from Instructure regarding next steps. As we learn more, we will share relevant information with families and staff. In the meantime, we encourage all students, staff, and families to be especially cautious with emails or messages that reference classes, assignments, student ID numbers, school accounts, or Canvas conversations. Please avoid clicking on suspicious links, opening unexpected attachments, or providing login information in response to an email or message.
