The school board reviews their five-year strategic plan every year and determines needs across the district relative to academics, fiscal priorities, and facilities. We have been monitoring our physical capacity for several years, and the district has experienced an increase of around 400 students in the last three years. Based upon this actual increase in students and the significant increase in proposed housing developments in our area, in the Fall of 2021, the Board directed the district to look at options for expanding our facilities at Philadelphia, Eaton, North Middle, CTE programming at Loudon High School, and athletic facilities at Greenback. During this process we also surveyed the 5th through 8th grade parents of North Middle School students about attending a county high school on the north end. After 70% of the stakeholders responded that they would like to attend such a county high school, it was determined that the best solution would be a new school on the North end of the county that would serve students in grades 7th through 12th and restructure the grade levels at Eaton and North Middle. The district is now in the schematic design phase of a new 7th through 12th grade school located between Simpson Road and Highway 11. After the design is completed, the district will request funding for construction from the County Commission. Here is where we need your help. In the design phase, we would like to include characteristics that would make the school personalized to our community. Please use the following form to submit your idea for the school's name, colors and mascot. https://forms.office.com/r/HSv8U639Mh
