From Director of Schools, Michael Garren

The mission of Loudon County Schools is to graduate college and career ready students through rigorous and relevant learning opportunities. This past year, Loudon County Schools had a 93.4% graduation rate with 197 students graduating from Greenback and Loudon High School. These graduates earned college scholarships more than $4.1 million to further their education. It is truly evident our team has a laser-like focus on the mission of providing rigorous and relevant learning opportunities to produce ready graduates.

The Tennessee Department of Education has released their school and district accountability data. The district received a designation of Advancing based upon these indicators. The data supporting these designations needs to be shared to illustrate the outstanding performance of Loudon County students and teachers. The district was in the top 15% of the state in grades 3-8 math and Algebra 1 and the top 25% of the state in grades 3-8 English and science. We also had two schools designated as Reward Schools by the state, Highland Park for the fifth consecutive time and Eaton Elementary for the second time.

The Tennessee Department of Education recognized the district as a “Best for All District” and a “Best for All Reading 360 District”. Fort Loudoun Middle School was designated a Tennessee STEM School. Philadelphia School was identified as an Exemplar school for Innovative School Model. Loudon high School CTE Welding/Machining received the Tennessee Department of Education’s Pathway Certification.

In addition to all of the academic growth, Loudon County Schools have expanded STEM and robotics programs. Our middle schools have implemented STEM/CTE programs, including agricultural and construction experiences on-site. We have expansive career technical education options available to our students including, but not limited to, agriculture, automotive, business, culinary arts, construction, digital arts, and design, electrical, engineering/STEM, HVAC, machining, medical sciences, teaching as a profession, and welding.

We know that the past few school years have been anything but normal; however, our students, teachers, and staff persevered and excelled in both academic achievement and growth. More importantly, all our staff in every school worked tirelessly to meet both our students’ physical and emotional needs, in addition to providing them with a top-notch education surrounded by some of the most challenging circumstances educators have seen. We also recognize that we have areas to improve, but we want to celebrate the good and let the community know they have a school system they can be proud of each day.
