Mr. Wayne Honeycutt
Director of Schools
Mr. Honeycutt is a native of East Tennessee. He graduated from Oakdale High School and received three degrees from universities in Tennessee having received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University, his Master of Science in Teaching degree from Middle Tennessee State University, and his Specialist in Education degree from Tennessee Technological University. He was a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent in Roane County. Prior to becoming the Director of Schools in Loudon County, Mr. Honeycutt was the superintendent of schools for the Sangamon Valley CUSD No. 9 in Niantic, Illinois.
As an experienced administrator and educator, Mr. Honeycutt’s accomplishments have centered around raising the standards of the educational system so that no child is lost due to miseducation; each child is given the opportunity to exceed his or her potential; and the love of learning is set ablaze and cultivated through the stewardship of teaching. The love for children must be the cornerstone of any educator. “Together we can” has always been his approach in moving the district to higher levels of achievement. He shares the observation of the Irish poet William Butler Yeats regarding the purpose of education: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
