Steekee Receives Flag from US Capitol

On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, Tennessee State Representative Jimmy Matlock and Chairman of Loudon County Board of Education Leroy Tate visited Steekee Elementary School to present the school with new flags.  On behalf of our State Governor, Representative Matlock presented a new United States flag which had previously flown over the U. S. Capitol Building in Washington, D. C. along with a new State of Tennessee flag.  Officer Jamie Pistole demonstrated the proper way to raise our new flags --- making sure they never touched the ground.  Third Grade Students led Steekee students in the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag.  They followed the pledge by leading students in singing, “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”

Students in 4th and 5th Grade have formed a Flag Corps to make sure the new flags are cared for properly and will fly proudly over the school each day.
